History

Since 1988, within the Nantes University Medical Centre, Professor Moisan's team has been the first French team to identify individuals based on DNA..

In 2003, due to the opportunities offered by the Innovation Law [loi Allègre], with the approval of the University Medical Centre and the University of Nantes, Mr. Moisan together with twenty other people in his medical staff founded IGNA.
With more than 15 years of experience, we then created the first French automated and computerised laboratory for the study of human genetics.
Therefore we are able fulfil a significantly growing demand by managing costs, deadlines and by guaranteeing a high quality of expertises.

In July 2008, IGNA merged with the CARSO Group, which became the majority shareholder of our Institution. Three of the founding experts still own 25% of the shares.
CARSO Group, a French company whose registered office is in Lyon, offers a complete range of tests in the environmental field (water, soil, construction), agri-food industry and genetics. CARSO has more than 1,300 employees and in 2009 CARSO had a turnover of 102 million Euros.

In parallel, CARSO owned 100% of the Codgene share capital.

On the 1st January 2010 the two companies Codgene and IGNA, merged and thus the most important French group in the field of genetic testing was born. We have three sites: Nantes, Strasbourg and Marseille.
Only the legal entity IGNA manages all three sites, and all the experts (natural persons) are assigned there.

This regrouping has allowed us to combine well-known industrial and scientific know-how. This know-how is the guarantee of the quality procedure based on ongoing improvement and enhanced capacity regarding genetic fingerprints examinations.
