OUR SERVICES AND COMMITMENTS

IGNA has developed strong relations with renowned teams in other forensic fields, such as ballistics and toxicology. We work together to offer the best solutions to your needs regarding your investigations by guaranteeing you simplification of logistics, but mainly optimum preservation of all the operating proofs on the same sample. We have adapted our protocols so as to ensure that each expert works under the best possible conditions to conduct his/her own expertise, and that this coordination allows faster treatment of expertise with more likelihood of finding results in all areas.

Ballistics.

Our partner in ballistics is the office of Mr. Pierre Laurent, an accredited expert since 1998. In 2006, he took over and restructured the most important independent French ballistics expertise laboratory. He manages it today by constantly seeking technical relevance and responsiveness.

Office activities

• Technical tests of weapons and ammunition.
• Determining past or present legal status.
• Research on the origin of weapons and ammunition.
• Establishing correlations between missiles/cartridge cases and weapons.
• Conversion to files (CIBLE and others).
• Attending autopsies and reconstructions, examinations in situ.
• Determining the trajectories in the body.
• Determining the trajectory and/or the firing distances.
• Compatibility of the trajectory with the place, positions and allegations.
• Determining the observance of the safety regulations or rules of use (hunting, shooting games, military fields, police intervention, pyrotechnics).

Methods

• The office includes five employees, of which three are accredited experts. It is located in the southern area of the Ile-de-France region, near Orly. It is the first French independent office in this field (more than 150 assignments per year) and they work in and outside the metropolitan area.
• The office is provided with important equipment taking into account the type of the activity: tower, press, gun sheath, microscope, reference collections and library, ammunition workshops, speed sensor, intervention material.
• Software, some of them were designed or optimised in-house.
• The relevance of results is ensured by cooperation with experts in complementary fields (forensic medicine/autopsies, traces and fingerprints, toxicology, chemistry and DNA tests with IGNA).
• The office is in charge of the records of ballistic fingerprints of the Compagnie des Experts [Company of Experts]. A convention between this company and IRCGN [Institut de recherche criminelle de la gendarmerie nationale - Criminal Investigation Institute of the National Police force] allows the transparent input of data in the CIBLE file at lower costs for the applicants.

Toxicology

Our field of activity is toxicological expertise. LAT LUMTOX was created after the merger of the two laboratories: LAT in La Voulte sur Rhône and LUMTOX in Lyon, and the association of three experts in Toxicology, pooling their professional competencies and their technical expertise. Committed to innovation, LAT-LUMTOX regularly employs PhD students, publishes research works in specialised magazines, and invests each year in new equipment.

The two laboratories are organised according to the ISO 17025 standard principles. Our mission is to implement all means possible to offer you support in revealing the truth by guaranteeing total reliability and traceability of the tests.

We wish to expedite the administrative tasks concerning the samples. We will take over the organisation, shipping and costs of transportation of the samples. We are at your service by offering advice regarding the drafting of the assignments. We can also give guidance as far as the tests to be conducted are concerned based on the nature of your assignments.
